New capabilities expand HP AppSystem for Apache Hadoop

By Lisa Boyd – HP Converged Systems

In December we launched the first HP Converged System for Apache Hadoop, the AppSystem, which allowed customers to quickly and easily stand up a Hadoop cluster and start getting the value out of their Big Data.  The AppSystem comes pre-configured, so it saves you time, and doesn’t require that you be a Hadoop expert to get started.

Now we’re enabling you with the capability to expand your Hadoop clusters with expansion kits to meet your rapidly evolving Big Data needs.

With the new expansion kits, you can seamlessly expand the number of data nodes in the cluster and take advantage of the same level of solution integration you experienced with the AppSystem.  Expansion kits come pre-loaded with RHEL, Cloudera CDH, and Insight CMU - just like the AppSystem - to plug right in to your existing environment and expand your data processing and capacity. Expansion kits are designed to simplify ordering, and come in half-and full-rack configurations.

Now that you’ve seen the benefit of this “drop & go” solution, and you’ve experienced the integrated management insight you get with HP CMU and  Cloudera Manager, you should feel confident that you can scale out your Hadoop deployment with the same convenience.
