BYOD: Bring Your Own Device

Bring Your Own Device

The New SMB Landscape Requires Your IT Network to be Bulletproof

By Lisa Wolfe, HP worldwide SMB Marketing & Strategy Leader, EB/ESSN

I recently heard from a CEO of a close HP Partner that just a year ago, his organization wasn’t focused on assisting small- and midsize-customers with integrating and optimizing their IT devices.  Fast forward to today: It’s now a central priority for his business and many of the small and midsize business (SMB) resellers he partners with.

image-blog-smb-app-store-299x250.jpgThe “smartphone/tablet” consumer world is in the SMB arena for good. Businesses can no longer push back on the requirement to provide employees access to their internal sites from anywhere, at any time, with any IT or mobile device. The issues of security, integration to vertical apps and the sheer proliferation of devices are now a central priority.

As an IT leader, you need to ensure your networking capability is solid and bullet proof—especially from a performance, reliability and network-security perspective. And, of course it must be cost effective.

Price is still king (or queen)—but the segment is starting to look a lot like the consumer space now—the only difference being that the “Angry Bird” app on my kids’ smart phone is replaced by a business app.

Are your employees all BYOD—are you ensuring your network is where it should be?
