I am very thrilled to announce that HP is expanding its international Catalyst Initiative, and eligible education organizations are invited to apply for grants valued at more than $150,000 (USD). Proposals are due May 12th, so here’s what you need to know…

2011 HP Catalyst Flyer.jpg

The HP Catalyst Initiative is a global network of thought-leading educators who are exploring innovations in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning and teaching. There are currently 35 organizations from eleven countries organized into five international consortia, each of which is addressing specific innovation opportunities. The bottom line: The transformation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education has begun!

In 2011 HP is launching a sixth consortium focused on “STEM-preneurs”, combining high quality STEM learning with the passion and skills of the entrepreneur. This theme is in addition to the existing five consortia focused on the “Multi-versity”, “Pedagogy 3.0”, the “Global Collaboratory”, the “New Learner”, and using technology to transform “Measuring Learning”. In total, HP seeks to fund 20 new organizations to join one of these six international consortia - “sandboxes” of innovation that will use technology to create powerful learning experiences for students as they use their technical and creative ingenuity to address urgent social challenges in their communities and around the world.

Selected organization will receive more than $150,000 (USD) in technology, cash, and professional services – and they become members of an exciting and unique professional network of innovative educators around the world. The application window is only 6 weeks, so gather your colleagues and ideas quickly! We look forward to hearing from you…

Proposal Submission Deadline: 12 May 2011

Eligibility: Education institutions that serve students in grades 6-16 in 14 targeted countries – Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States.
