Insight Remote Support: Still receiving reports for decommissioned central management servers?
After decommissioning or replacing a CMS (Central Management Server), some HP Insight Remote Support software customers may receive a RSSWM Software State Report for the old server via email. This can be confusing if the server is no longer in use, or just a nuisance if you’re receiving unwanted email. Many times, customers will request that the old CMS be removed from the HP backend to avoid getting this type of email notification. However, in most cases, no action is necessary.
This email is from HPInsightRemoteSupport@hp.com, has a subject line of, HP Remote Support SWM Software State Report for Central Management Server (CMS), and it includes the following content:
“Your HP Insight Remote Support SWM Software State Report(s) are attached. Please do not reply to this message, as it was created by an automated process. Subscription preferences such as e-mail address and unsubscribing can be modified by accessing the Contacts page of the Software Manager interface.
Thank you.”
What most people don't realize is that decommissioned Central Management Servers should age out of the HP backend after 60 days of inactivity. In the meantime, you could receive one additional RSSWM Software State Report after the server has been decommissioned since these reports are automatically generated monthly.
If you do not want to wait that long to stop receiving reports, a case could be opened with HP to get the CMS removed. However, this should not be necessary since only one additional report can be expected after an old CMS server has been turned off or the software uninstalled.
