Challenged by NFV management and orchestration? Read on!

by Massimo Fatato, WW OSS Business Leader, and Jeff Edlund, CTO, HP Communications & Media Solutions

HP continues to lead the industry, evolving our portfolio to help our CSP customers address business pain points with long term solutions. NFV is a great example of HP innovation and bold moves in terms of long-term investment in HP Labs’ R&D not only for our own business, but also for the benefit of our customers and partners. Successful PoCs have impressed and exceeded expectations of key global CSP customers.

Everyone understands the benefits of NFV; significant reductions in CAPEX and OPEX, increased business agility and network flexibility. However, some time ago, we identified the challenge of NFV management and orchestration in our CSP customers’ networks.

This year, we launched our HP NFV Director Solution which our most innovative customers tell us has successfully helped them overcome this challenge.

HP NFV Director is part of our end-to-end NFV portfolio that includes infrastructure, abstraction, orchestration and applications solutions. Uniquely created in an OSS environment, it manages complexity in both NFV and OSS. HP NFV Director provides the ability to implement NFV orchestration, as defined by the ETSI NFV ISG, and manages NFV in heterogeneous, multi-vendor and geographically distributed environments. The NFV Director maintains the mapping among physical resources, virtual resources, and application instances. Along with resource management, HP NFV Director integrates seamlessly with HP and third-party management systems. At the recent TM Forum Live! event, we had the opportunity to share our vision and opinion on the importance of NFV management and orchestration. And, of course, talk about how our customers have overcome this major challenge, courtesy of our future-proof HP NFV Director.
