New Light Reading Article: HP Looks to Conquer Carriers with NFV

A new Light Reading article was posted this week by Mitch Wagner about HP’s efforts in the NFV space. Wagner bases his article off of a briefing with HP’s NFV Senior Vice President and General Manager Bethany Mayer and emphasizes all of HP’s strong points in the NFV area.

In the beginning of the article, Wagner writes about Mayer and HP’s background in NFV. Mayer states that HP is already engaged in business with carrier IT departments and plans to extend those relationships. According to Mayer, there is about 5,000 people focused solely on NFV across the company and targets for revenue are in the billions.

Wagner writes about HP’s milestones since they launched the NFV business – all of which are impressive. HP recently hired CTO Prodip Sen who had come to the company from Verizon Communications Inc. The company is engaged in 15 PoC’s and several cloud PoC’s, including a Telco cloud. HP is currently working with ConteXtream on an ETSI PoC that they plan to showcase at SDN OpenFlow World Congress Germany in October of this year. The company’s partnerships are growing - a contract was signed with Israel Mobile Association to create a NFV lab that should be open later this year. There are also five new labs in construction for partnership testing.
