A Positive View of how the Droids are Taking Our Jobs

Andrew McAfee recently made a presentation at a TEDx in Boston titled: Are the Droids Taking Our Jobs

I am fortunate in that I can interact with Andy on a fairly regular basis, so I wanted to share this.

In the presentation, Andy has some deep analysis on the shift of employment trends and technologies impact on the labor force and the human race in general.

Although the presentation starts out a downer, it shifts to show how the entire world will benefit, particularly those near the bottom - financially.

This sort of analysis is what enterprise should expect from the IT organizations, since the fundamental business shifts described are enabled by information and technology. If the exponential increase in capability continues, we can expect it to permeate more of our lives and free us up from the drudgery that may occupy our time today and free us to focus on whole new areas of opportunity.

If you agree with me that Human Attention is one of the scarcest resources, Andy's view of the possibility of a better future should ring true.
