Abundance – another word for a recovery?
2005 was the first post where I talked about viewing the world based on a viewpoint of abundance vs. scarcity. Since then I’ve covered it from a variety of perspectives like the abundance of data, computing and sensing. Now there are books on an abundance perspective and numerous articles on the shifting view of information technology and many of them use the term abundance. This got me thinking if this is the buzzword for the recovery?
More of the world must be starting to have a more positive view of our future to enable this abundance of ‘abundance’. Granted, there are still a number of people who have a negative opinion of the world’s future, where everything is ever more constrained – the peak economy perspective. To counter that angle, there are those who look at the same constraints as an opportunity to focus their creative spirit. These limits are opportunities, not confines.
What if there really was ‘enough’ -- if we let our creative juices flow -- and the world and the Universe really were abundant? That is where I spend more of my time. I believe that generating even more abundance is an area where information technology can shine.
