Buying a new PC – a view from a different perspective

Most technologists look forward to the day when their child calls them up and says “I need a new PC” and are going to spend their own money to buy it. I'm not sure why but you probably know what I mean.

I got that call last week and went into a flurry of effort over the weekend looking at the options and features available based on his specific needs. I did find it interesting and slightly funny that I was attacking the problem like it was a business project startup. Finding out his requirements… and presenting various options. I am sure he thought it was going to be a quick discussion that we could have done over twitter.

The HP Next Bench blog just put out a post on Choosing the right computer for you, that may be helpful.
