The need for even bolder thinking about automation
The Wh1t3Rabbit in a blog post titled:The Resilient Enterprise - Taming chaos with automation discussed the role of IT in automating IT environments.
Those same concepts can be applied throughout the value streams of the business. He says:
“you can teach the system to take some corrective action based on this new event next time it happens ... it's really impressive to watch things fail, automation pick up the failure and correct and respond. All this happens at the pace of business... and it all strives to not disrupt that business.”
You can imaging those same words being applied to business events. It’s not failures but opportunities/events that automation can watch for and address. This will redefine the skills of the employees as well as the processes themselves.
The automation of cloud for the business is just the tip of the iceberg. I was in a session with Raf last week, where I offhandedly said “Frictionless cloud is lubricated by the tiers of traditional IT.” I wonder if in a few years we’ll say the same thing about traditional business that doesn’t adopt to the world of IT abundance.
