We have National Engineers Week ahead of us

engineersWeek2013.pngFor 2013, National Engineers Week (in the US) runs from February 17th -23rd. The purpose of National Engineers Week is to call attention to the contributions that engineers make. It is also a time for engineers to emphasize the importance of learning math, science, and technical skills (STEM), so there will likely be some events at a school or museum near to you.

One of the events of the week is: Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day on Feb. 21st. There is a closely related activity focused on introducing students to engineering via a live #STEMchat on Twitter, set for February 20, 2013 at 9:00pm (EST). #STEMchat is a monthly Twitter conversation that brings together parents, educators and STEM professionals to share ideas and resources to raise STEM-loving kids.

The 2013 Future City National Finals will take place at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22202. Preliminary judging will be held on Monday, February 18th, from 8:30am-2:00pm. The final round of the National Finals will be held Tuesday, February 19th, from 8:30am-12:30pm.
