Programmable Bacteria

I’ve heard people say they were sick of computers, but the phenomenon could now reach a whole new level.  An article in New Scientist describes using bacteria to solve computing problems – in this case a simple Sudoku puzzle.  The Tokyo team's Sudoku-solving bacteria competed in the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology this month. Programming bacteria is not new, but clearly has advanced in recent years and being applied to more areas. This presentation give a good overview.
