3 Essential Elements of a Future-Ready Network
You can stand up a new server and see results in minutes or hours. Doing the same with the network is tough … but doable, says HP datacenter network expert Lorenzo Gonzales, a regular contributor to this blog. Lorenzo was at Discover 2012 in June telling IT leaders how they can achieve a tighter network footprint within minutes, with absolutely predictable results in terms of capacity planning, security, and reliability, as well as a significant reduction in total cost of ownership.
What it takes is a network transformation with three key elements:
- An architectural blueprint based on a domain model
- The right technical and architectural building blocks, optimized for the business and principles-based
- A robust lifecycle design for operations and services.
Lorenzo unpacks the details of these key ingredients in the video below. For an in-depth view, take a look at his slides at the end of this blog.
In this interview with SDR News’ Andy McCaskey, Lorenzo expands the discussion of network transformation to cover the impact of cloud and consumerization on network organizations:
- Why Cloud is a stress factor for many network teams
- Why IT must become a counselor to the business units
- How companies can hit the sweet spot in private cloud projects, ensuring that they’re not overinvested.
