HP Trusted Network Transformation: helping you find the right road to SDN

by Ron Irvine, HP Global Portfolio Consulting Director for Mobility and Networking

Ron Irvine.small.jpgAs I noted in my previous blog, enterprise networks today face some serious challenges, and IT leaders are under increasing pressure to demonstrate that network investments remain relevant to the business. The dilemma for IT leaders that they know they have to rapidly evolve to an elastic network, one that’s enabled through Software-defined Networking (SDN) – but how to get there without blowing up the network, and the business in the process? Today’s networks are not only static, but because of their outdated design they are also brittle, and changes to the network environment come with significant risk.

HP is an acknowledged leader in SDN (and we strengthened that position this week with an announcement at VMworld about the HP-VMware Networking solution). But in addition to that, we can also offer an end-to-end consulting approach to safely shepherd companies from their current brittle and static network state to an agile, elastic, application-aware network state. We call it the HP Trusted Network Transformation.

The Transformation starts with the critical process of ensuring business and IT alignment. All follow-on processes are constantly referenced back to this alignment, ensuring that the right steps are being taken for the right business and IT reasons. We help you to develop a deep understanding of the current network state. Then we help you design the future SDN state, taking into account your organization’s current business and IT investment realities. In other words, the transformation roadmap is based on a timeline that makes sense for your business and IT organization, not one that’s based on the sales agenda of any network vendor.

All steps of the process – from assessment of current state to integration and customized support – are constantly validated back to that initial step of aligning business and IT strategy, and are wrapped in end-to-end program management and executive sponsorship to ensure consistency throughout the journey. We also structure the financial options of the journey in a way that makes sense for your enterprise.

It’s our leadership commitment to SDN and our years of multi-vendor network experience that make HP the only partner that can lead you to an elastic network environment safely and at a pace that makes sense for your organization, taking into account your current IT investments as well as your business pressures and opportunities.
