Multi-Organization Taskforce Publishes Final PUE Guidance
It was announced today (New PUE Standards) that the second and final document was released that outlines the procedure for measuring and reporting PUE. I was fortunate to work on this document (I was representing the US Green Building Council) and provide some important input into the technical details of PUE measurement and reporting.
The goal of the document is to clarify all of the details of how PUE is determined and provide different scenarios of how PUE is affected by stand-alone data centers, data centers located in multi-tenant buildings, data centers with on-site power generation, etc. The following organizations played key roles in the development of this document.
- 7x24 Exchange
- ASHRAE
- The Green Grid
- Silicon Valley Leadership Group
- US Department of Energy’s Save Energy Now and Federal Energy Management Programs
- US Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Program
- US Green Building Council (USGBC)
- Uptime Institute
See my July 16, 2010 blog for more information on this document.
