Unlocking big value through Big Data

Commenting on the explosive growth of Big Data implementations, Forrester blogger Michael Barnes put his finger on the primary cause: “The reason is simple: More and more organizations now understand the value of data for not only addressing customer demands and expectations, but also for responding to changing market dynamics and improving operational efficiency.”

Barnes was looking in particular at the Asia Pacific region (you can read his blog here), but there’s no doubt the same reasoning applies to many enterprises in the rest of the world, too. Tom Norton, HP’s VP of Big Data Consulting Services, was at HP Discover in Barcelona last month telling much the same story. Watch the video below for Tom’s take on how Big Data can free up the value locked in sources ranging from blogs to collaboration suites to legacy databases.

In a key Big Data session at Discover, HP Global Consulting Strategist Angela Chin tackled the core questions: How does IT create value for the business? How can you create value using Big Data? And what should IT be talking to the business about? Check out her presentation slides below.
