If You Can't Stand the Heat, Get Out of the Data Center
Data center cooling infrastructure has one purpose – to keep computers at a temperature that will ensure optimal performance and prevent damage to the hardware or worse, loss of data. Using elevated temperatures in a data center can yield huge energy savings. But up until recently, data centers were too cold; now we're looking at "cold" aisle temperatures ranging from 90F to 113F. We’ve gone from one end of the spectrum to the other. (But that's good!)
